The idea behind the Walking Debates is to bring added-value to conferences such as the African Soil Seminar or the Global Soil Week. Visiting real places and people who do not speak our language (academic, political, etc.), yet are the agents forging the agendas of change, is about much more than obtaining factual information. Today we can read data and interpretations on a screen anywhere. It is rather about the human dimension, the understanding of subjectivities, and the exposure and ability to read different layers of information when one is in an actual and specific site of socio-economic production.
